The WIP Write Ons and Write Offs By Client Report details write ons/offs for clients.
It shows write off information by assigned time, invoiced amount, the write on/off percentage and the remainder unbilled.
The WIP Write Ons and Write Offs By Client report shows all data as of the date the report is run; not the dates selected when running the report. See the understanding the data section below for an explanation.
This report is used as a quick check to see how your business is doing with respect to write ons/offs by client.
How to generate the WIP Write Ons and Write Offs By Client Report
From Reports >> Performance Reports >> go to Management Analysis section >> click on WIP Write Ons and Write Offs By Client and select the required date range.
You can optionally filter this report by Project Office, Client and Project.
Now click on the ‘Report Options’ button and select one of the preview options to preview the WIP Write Ons and Write Offs By Client Report.
Understanding the Data
The WIP Write Ons and Write Offs By Client report shows all data as of the date the report is run; not the dates selected when running the report
- unlike most other reports, the date selection is only used to limit the report to clients with projects invoiced within the selected period, and
- all data related to those clients is shown up to the current date.
For example, in the month of April you could review the status of all clients invoiced from the last month/quarter. You can use the report to look back on things you billed previously and see what the current status is in terms of margins.
The WIP Write Ons and Write Offs By Client Report report shows the following information-
- Client Name
- Assigned Time & Disbursements
- Invoiced Amount
- Write On/Off
- Write On/Off%
- Unbilled Time
- Unbilled Disbursements
- Total Unbilled
Client Name
From Clients, Contacts & Projects >> Search Clients and Projects >> click on any ‘Contact Name’ to view the client Details for page.
The client name for this report comes from the ‘Details’ tab in the Details for client page.
Assigned Time & Disbursements
The Assigned Time & Disbursements is the total of all assigned time and disbursements for the entire life of the clients’ projects till date. See more in Assigned Time and Disbursements Report.
Invoiced Amount
The Invoiced Amount is the total of all amounts invoiced for the client for the entire life of the client’s projects till date.
Write On/Off
The Write On/Off is the total amount written on or written off for the entire life of the clients’ projects till date. Sometimes called margin or overrun, the Write On/Off is calculated from the Invoiced Amount less the Assigned Time & Disbursements.
Write On/Off = Invoiced Amount – Assigned Time & Disbursements
Write On/Off%
The Write On/Off percentage displays the figure above as a percentage of the assigned time & disbursements.
The Write On/Off percentage is calculated as the total Write On/Off divided by the assigned time & disbursements. The figure is rounded to the nearest whole percent.
Write On/Off % =
(Write On/Off value / Assigned time & disbursements ) x 100
Unbilled Time and Unbilled Disbursements
The Unbilled Time is any time that is unbilled for the client as of the current date. Similarly, the Unbilled Disbursements refer to any disbursements that are unbilled.
Total Unbilled
The Total Unbilled is the total of Unbilled Time and Unbilled Disbursements.
